Plot

Black Gem is a very unique case. She can be a great ally at times, but she's also infamous for her love for jewels, to the point where she's actually an expert jewel thief. It's not usual that her obsession with gems leads her to clash with the gang, but in this occasion, her ambitions might cause a lot of headaches for everyone else involved. It's time to hunt down this stealthy jewel thief!

Story

It's a sunny morning in Echo Creek. Everyone's up to their own daily business, and Red Fork isn't the exception. Resting near the coast, he smiles as he enjoys some ice cream.

• Red Fork: What a nice and relaxing day! And it's about to get better when I have my date with Twilight this evening.

Red Fork smiles as he opens a small chest he has, where there's a shiny diamond necklace inside.

• Red Fork: I know Twilight's going to love this!

However, unbeknownst to Red Fork, there was someone lurking behind the palm trees. Black Gem had spotted the small chest where Red Fork was keeping his gift for Twilight, and her eyes sparkled just with the idea of that diamond necklace.

• Black Gem: That necklace is just so gorgeous! How come I don't have a boyfriend to give me jewelry? I mean, who wouldn't want to date such a beautiful mare like me? But whatever, at least I can get jewels on my own. I just have to sneak up to Red Fork, and snatch that chest when he's not looking.

Black Gem carefully sneaks up to Red Fork from behind him, flying slowly and carefully so that he doesn't hear her. He just keeps eating his ice cream, while the chest is on the sand right next to him.

• Black Gem: (thinking to herself) Almost there, just a bit more.

Black Gem continues moving closer and closer, and then she stretches out her front leg, in order to try and take the chest. However, before she can lay a hoof on the chest, Red Fork uses his horn to levitate the chest out of her reach.

• Red Fork: (without turning around) Were you looking for something?
• Black Gem: Drats!
• Red Fork: (turns around) Black Gem, you didn't think you'd get your hooves on Twilight's gift, did you?
• Black Gem: Who, me? No, I wouldn't dream of doing that! I was just looking to see how you were doing!
• Red Fork: That's kind of odd, considering we almost never talk.
• Black Gem: Well, you see, there was something I was hoping to tell you...
• Red Fork: Hey, I'll tell you straight up, if you were hoping for a date, I'm sorry to tell you, I've already got a girlfriend, and her name's Twilight.
• Black Gem: Huh, yeah I know. Whatever that princess saw in you is anyone's guess...
• Red Fork: No need to be jealous, you've probably got a good chance with Dark Shadow if you really try. He seems to be more comfortable around you than anyone else.
• Black Gem: Whatever... I was actually going to offer you a sandwich.
• Red Fork: A sandwich? Ooh, now that sounds good! Yes please!

Black Gem punches Red Fork right in the face with her front hoove, and uses the other to snatch the small chest.

• Black Gem: A hoof sandwich that is. See you later! (flies away)
• Red Fork: (teleports right in front of her) Nice one... but you're not going away with that.
• Black Gem: You know what they say, finders keepers!
• Red Fork: Well, isn't this going to be an interesting day after all?

Red Fork shoots a magic blast at Black Gem, but Black Gem dodges, flying up higher, hoping to get out of Red Fork's reach. However, Red Fork just teleports above her, and smashes her with his weight, landing on the ground crushing her beneath him. Black Gem gets out from below Red Fork, noticeably hurt, and with her mane messy.

• Black Gem: Well, that was uncalled for. It's going to be at least another hour or two fixing my mane.
• Red Fork: (takes the chest) Might as well leave while you still can.
• Black Gem: Oh, I'm not giving up that easily, Forky, and you know it.
• Red Fork: Always the persistent one, eh? I can respect that.

Black Gem flies towards Red Fork, trying to overwhelm him by kicking him from the sky. Red Fork dodges the kicks, and then shoots magic blasts at her. Black Gem dodges by flying around, and then flies quickly towards Red Fork, looking for an opening to kick him down. Red Fork charges towards Black Gem, and then jumps, avoiding Black Gem's kicks, and then shooting a magic blast while he's still in the air, hitting Black Gem in the back. She falls onto the ground.

• Black Gem: Oof!
• Red Fork: Nice try!

Black Gem gets up, and uses a different strategy. She flies towards a palm tree, and kicks it, causing the coconuts to fall. Red Fork dodges the falling coconuts, but then Black Gem picks them up, and begins tossing them at Red Fork. Red Fork runs around dodging the coconuts.

• Red Fork: Ha, you missed!

Suddenly, Red Fork gets hit in the head by a coconut, causing him to get dizzy.

• Black Gem: Or did I?

Red Fork is temporarily stunned by the hit, allowing Black Gem to attack him with fast kick combos, the last one sending him flying into a tree. Red Fork crashes into the tree, but then gets up.

• Red Fork: You aren't gonna make this easy, are you?
• Black Gem: I'm no easy girl, Red Fork.
• Red Fork: I imagined so.

Red Fork teleports behind Black Gem, and then shoots a magic blast at her. She is thrown away several meters by the impact, and lands on the sand. Red Fork then comes charging towards Black Gem, but Black Gem rolls out of the way, avoiding the ramming attack. She then flies after Red Fork. Red Fork stops himself before crashing into a tree, and then turns around just in time to get kicked in the face by Black Gem.

• Black Gem: Haha!

Red Fork flinches after the kick, but when Black Gem tries to kick him again, Red Fork teleports behind Black Gem again, and touches her on the shoulder.

• Black Gem: (turns around) Uh oh.

Red Fork unleashes a powerful combo of attacks on Black Gem, ending the combo by ramming into Black Gem, with enough force to send her flying away.

• Black Gem: I thought I had it! (disappears into the horizon)
• Red Fork: Well, that was fun, but I'd better get going now.

Red Fork run away from the beach, taking the chest with him. Meanwhile, Black Gem goes on a walk by herself, frustrated that she failed to get the necklace.

• Black Gem: It's always so tough to get my hooves on new gems. I guess I'm going to have to up my game if I want to get more jewels. I am a professional treasure hunter, after all. I can't let something like this bring me down. Even if it's the last thing I do, I'll get new gems!

While she's walking along, three figures watch her from the bushes.

• ??? #1: Look, that pony!
• ??? #2: What about her?
• ??? #1: She seems to know about gems!
• ??? #3: Gems, you say?
• ??? #1: I think I've got an idea. She can help us find more gems.
• ??? #2: Do you think she'll want to help us?
• ??? #1: That doesn't matter. We'll force her to. I have just the plan.

Black Gem keeps walking, until she spots something shiny in the dirt. She flies over, and sees it's a glowing purple gem.

• Black Gem: Ooh, now this looks nice! It's almost as if it were placed here just for me. It must be my lucky day. (giggles)

Black Gem grabs the gem, but suddenly, as she does that, three silhouettes come out of the bushes surrounding her. They're three gray dogs.

• Black Gem: Who are you guys?
• Rover: Who are we? We're the diamond dogs, and we're looking for gems.
• Black Gem: I see... well, bad luck boys, I found this gem first, and you're not going to take it away from me.
• Rover: Oh, you don't get it, pony. We put that gem for you... to fall into our trap!
• Spot: Yeah, now you'll find gems for us, pony!
• Black Gem: Oh really, that's your plan? To bribe me? Sorry boys, this won't work. Now if you excuse me...

Black Gem tries to leave, but Fido, the tallest of the three dogs, gets in her way.

• Fido: It's not a bribe pony. We knew you'd come as soon as you saw the gem, and now you're trapped. There's nowhere to run!
• Black Gem: Who said anything about running?

Black Gem delivers a spinning kick to the large dog, and tries to run away.

• Rover: Sure... try to run away. It's useless.

Black Gem keeps running away, but suddenly, something pops out of the ground. It's Spot, the smaller diamond dog, who leaps onto Black Gem, stopping her in her tracks.

• Spot: You're ours now, pony!
• Black Gem: You really think so?

Black Gem kicks the dog's face with her front hoof, getting the dog off of her, and then delivers a spinning kick with her hind hoof, causing Spot to fall onto the ground.

• Black Gem: Never underestimate a Crystal Empire agent. (flies away)
• Rover: Come back here, pony!

Rover grabs a rock, and tosses it at Black Gem, hitting her in the head, and causing her to crash onto the ground again.

• Black Gem: Oof! (falls onto the ground) Is that anyway to treat a lady!?
• Rover: I don't care what you are, you're ours now, and you'll do as you are told!
• Black Gem: (rolls her eyes) I belong to no one, you fool. Now get lost.

Rover runs towards Black Gem to attack her, but Black Gem defends herself with some precise kicks. However, while she fights off Rover, Fido comes from behind her, and grabs her with a bear hug move, immobilizing her. Rover then lets out a laugh.

• Rover: It's over, pony. Now just give up before we have to really hurt you!
• Black Gem: You really think you have me?

Black Gem squirms and struggles to get out of Fido's grasp, and ends up managing to kick him in the stomach with her hind legs, freeing herself from his grasp.

• Black Gem: The problem with you is that you're completely delusional.
• Fido: Oof!
• Rover: Oh, I'll teach you to watch your tongue!

Spot appears from the ground under Black Gem, and grabs onto her, trying to immobilize her while Rover rushes towards her to attack.

• Black Gem: Ugh... you guys sure are dirty tricksters.

Rover manages to hit Black Gem a few times while Spot clings onto her to keep her still. Black Gem starts flying, with Spot still holding onto her.

• Spot: Aagh! Stop! We're getting too high!
• Black Gem: Then you might want to let go of me!

Black Gem starts struggling with Spot, trying to get him to let go of her, but then Fido gets up and leaps towards Black Gem, managing to grab onto her hind legs. The added weight makes Black Gem unable to fly, and the three of them crash onto the ground.

• Black Gem: (sees herself covered in dirt) Look at me! I'm all covered in dirt now!
• Rover: That's not our problem. Now surrender!
• Black Gem: I'll make it your problem!

Black Gem starts flying again, this time moving around fast in the sky, getting out of the dogs' grasp, and then flying a bit lower to deliver precise kicks from above, hitting them on their heads, and then moving out of reach before they can react.

• Fido: She's flying! What do we do!?
• Rover: Get her, you morons!

Spot tries to leap onto her again, but Black Gem simply kicks him in the face, and Spot faceplants back onto the ground. Fido tries throwing a rock at her, but Black Gem dodges it. She then takes up some height, and dives down into the three diamond dogs, spinning around like a top as she does this, delivering a final blow that defeats the three of them. The three diamond dogs are left lying flat on the ground. While Black Gem lands gracefully, seeing her three opponents defeated.

• Black Gem: (blows her hair away from her face) I told you, never underestimate a Crystal Empire Agent. This was fun and all, but I should get going. Good-bye, dogs.

Black Gem prepares to step away, but then she thinks of something. She remembers her fight with Red Fork, and how as much as she tried, Red Fork was just too strong to defeat. She then looks at the diamond dogs. Sure, they weren't as tough as her, but still, they did seem to be able to do some fighting. If they were looking for gems just like her, maybe they could be useful for her. She smiles as an idea comes to her mind, and turns around, facing the dogs again.

• Black Gem: You know, boys? Now that I think of it, maybe working with you guys wouldn't be such a terrible idea.
• Rover: What do you mean!? You just beat us up, and now you're giving in!?
• Black Gem: Don't misunderstand me. I'm not going to be working for you crooks. You will be working for me.
• Fido: What?
• Spot: What!?
• Rover: Nonsense! We won't help you, pony!
• Black Gem: I'm not finished talking! Sheesh, learn some manners, will you? And don't call me pony, call me Black Gem, or Miss, or Miss Black Gem.
• Fido: I'm starting to get flashbacks... this is starting to scare me.
• Black Gem: Do I make myself clear!?
• All three: (scared) Aah! Yes Miss Black Gem!
• Black Gem: (smiles) Much better. Now listen, I know where to find gems. You want gems just like me, don't you.
• Fido: Well, yes...
• Black Gem: Then here's the deal. You help me get my hooves on more gems, and in return, you can get a share of the gems we find.
• Spot: A share?
• Rover: How much are we talking about?
• Black Gem: I don't know, depends on how many we find. First you'll have to prove you can be good treasure hunters.
• Rover: We're the diamond dogs! Of course we're good treasure hunters, you pony!
• Black Gem: (angry stare) Excuse me?
• Rover: (nervous) I mean... Miss Black Gem, hehe...
• Black Gem: Well, in that case, I think we can go find some gems, and you can show me your skills. Deal?

The three dogs look at each other, and nod.

• Fido: I guess it's worth a shot.
• Spot: Let's try it.
• Rover: Fine, we'll work with you, but only because that way we'll find more gems.
• Black Gem: (giggles) Perfect, now let's get moving. There's lots of jewels to find, and I know exactly where to start.

Black Gem instructs the diamond dogs to follow her, as they head to find their first target. Meanwhile, some place very far away... Dark Shadow unleashes a powerful magic explosion, obliterating an army of robots that surround him. The place is on fire, and Dark Shadow walks away from a pile of robot scraps, completely unfazed.

• Dark Shadow: Enough of this nonsense, where is that black crystal?

Dark Shadow's query is met with a frustrated groan from the screen in front of Dark Shadow.

• Bright Spark: No way, I can't believe this!
• Dark Shadow: Your toys are pathetic. Now hand over the black crystals before you become the next one to end like them (points at a pile of broken parts that used to be one of Bright Spark's robots).
• Bright Spark: (frightened, but trying to remain calm) I'm not handing over any black crystals! You might be strong, but there's no way you'll be able to stop me on your own! My factories are producing new robots by the hundreds! You'll never stop me!
• Dark Shadow: You're just making this take longer than it has to. I already trashed this factory, how many are left?
• Bright Spark: Uh... I'm not telling you!
• Dark Shadow: Sure... why not? It doesn't matter. Your desperate attempts to stop me won't do anything, you hear me? I'll get those black crystals and complete my mission, even if it means getting rid of you while I'm at it.
• Bright Spark: Enough of this! I've got an evil plan to take care of!

Bright Spark presses a button, causing a huge robot the size of a building to appear behind Dark Shadow.

• Bright Spark: In the meantime, you can play with that. (evil laugh)

The screen turns off, leaving Dark Shadow to fight the giant robot.

• Dark Shadow: (sighs) One has to wonder how smart that fool really is to keep trying the same thing over and over again, and expect a different result. Whatever... Let's get rid of this pile of hot garbage.

Dark Shadow prepares to fight the giant machine. Some time later, in Ponyville, everyone is alerted by a loud, high-pitched scream. Twilight, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy head over to Rarity's house, where the scream came from. They come into her house, worried by the scream they heard.

• Applejack: Rarity!
• Twilight: What's wrong? We heard you scream!
• Rainbow Dash: Rarity?

Rarity is seen incredibly stress and worried.

• Rarity: It's terrible, absolutely horrible!
• Fluttershy: Rarity?
• Applejack: What happened?
• Rarity: Of all the worst things that could happen, this is THE. WORST. POSSIBLE. THING!

Rarity uses her magic to pull a couch right next to her, and then she tosses herself onto the couch as if she fainted.

• Rarity: Why? Oh why!?
• Twilight: Rarity, what happened?
• Rarity: My jewels, they were all stolen! I was going to use them for my newest designs for this season, but they're all gone! Vanished!
• Rainbow Dash: Oh, it's just some jewels? (the others look at her) What?
• Twilight: Don't worry Rarity, we'll help you find your jewels.
• Applejack: Do you have any idea of who might've done it?
• Rarity: That's the worst part! I have no idea who could've done such a thing!
• Twilight: We'll have to search for clues. That way we'll figure out who is behind this robbery!

The Mane Six agree, and start searching for clues. Meanwhile, back in Echo Creek, Black Gem smiles as she carries a bag full of jewels.

• Black Gem: Nice job boys! They didn't even see you. Maybe you are better at this than I expected.
• Spot: I was worried she'd see us. The last time we saw that pony... things didn't go very well...
• Fido: So, what's next?
• Black Gem: There's still many other places we can go to find jewels. Come on boys, there's more gems to find.

Black Gem leads her new minions to their next target, Red Fork and Blue Ocean's house.

• Rover: What is this place?
• Black Gem: It's the house of two ponies I know. One is pretty strong, but he's not here right now. The other is probably here, but he's kind of a pushover. Plus, I heard he bought some jewels for his girlfriend. It sounds like the perfect opportunity to strike.
• Spot: Hehe, great!
• Fido: So, what's the plan, pony- I mean, Miss Black Gem?
• Black Gem: If I know that blue fool, he's probably in his lab working on one of his new toys. I'll distract him, and you go for the jewels.
• Spot: Ok, if you say so.

Black Gem smiles, and then gets into the house by the window, and then proceeds to look for Blue Ocean to distract him.
