Boom, also known as Opposite Blast before Bad Hair Day, is a super-powered teenager that was created by Dr. Zack to eliminate Blast. He's a tough rival that is stronger than Blast in almost every possible way. He is roleplayed by Redfork2000.
Personality[]
Boom is ruthless. He doesn't care who he has to harm in order to get the job done. He's really confident in himself and is abilities, and likes to show off his powers, specially when it means proving that he's stronger than others.
Abilities[]
His abilities are very similar to Blast's powers, except that Boom is more powerful than him. He can fly, has super speed and super strength, just like Blast. However, he is also pretty perceptive, and studies his opponents while he fights them. This way he can also find their weaknesses and exploit them as much as possible.
Stats[]
Boom has stats that are very similar to those of Blast. They share a high mobility, high power structure, with enough health to tank a few hits, and not much emphasis on other stats. A trend that is noticed is how Boom's stats tend to be slightly higher than Blast's stats in almost all areas, except for intelligence. Boom used to be stronger than Blast, and capable of easily beating him one on one, but nowadays Blast has gained a wider range of abilities, and has earned a greater matchup experience. This means that Blast is now capable of winning that matchup. Still, overall, both Boom and Blast are C tier characters, as they're very similar, with only a few differences.
Relations with other characters[]
Blast[]
Blast used to be Boom's main nemesis. Boom was to destroy Blast. However, after leaving Dr. Zack's team, and joining the gang, Boom now has different plans. Sure, he still isn't best friends with Blast, but at least now you won't see them fighting each other as often.
Tommy[]
Tommy has seen Boom fight Blast before, and is genuinely terrified of Boom. Boom used to see Tommy as nothing but a minor annoyance. The relation hasn't changed much after Boom joined the gang.
Alice[]
Alice disliked Boom for his bad attitude, his attempts to kill Blast, and much more, while Boom just thinks of Alice as an arrogant know-it-all. However, in stories like Twin Twister and Bad Hair Day, Alice has shown to understand Boom much better than he would expect, to the point that now Alice is one of Boom's closer friends from the gang.
The Locked Room Gang[]
As a whole, Boom used to be one of the gang's enemies. However, as time went by, Boom became less of a threat, and was seen teaming up with the gang more often than not when other villains came into play. In Bad Hair Day, he and his team finally decided to join the gang.
Trivia[]
- Although his first official appearance in an IaLR story was in The Attack of the Opposite, written in Febuary of 2018, he was actually planned to appear much earlier, during 16-Year Old Trouble, in June 2017. However, as the story was never finished, he was mostly forgotten until the story of his debut.
- He's never been seen without his red cap, that he always uses backwards.
- Although he is called "Opposite Blast", he'd actually like to have his own name instead of being considered just an anti-version of his enemy. That's why from Bad Hair Day onwards, he has changed his name to Boom.
